Ok it started with the anxiety of whether the car would start at -35.
Then waking at 0300 hour to make it to the airport on time.
Then the flat nose wheel and 1 hour delay. Then flying over the inside passage and up the west side of Haida Gwaii on a crystal clear day.
Then arriving in Hong Kong and missing our Kathmandu flight.
Then meeting up with our guardian angel. She was holding a sign with our names and a new set of flights to navigate.
She took us in hand like two lost and wasted toddlers and escorted us around Hong Kong airport looking for our lost bags and in her stilted English explaining that to get to Kathmandu we would have to make a small detour to Bangkok.
Makes sense doesn't it.
Then discovering a mom and pop, seven eleven like restaurant right in the heart of Bangkok airport. The waitresses glued to the local news , depicting various shady bandit looking characters being apprehended by the efficient ruthless police.
Why do I always feel so inferior when I am immersed in Thai society? They just seem to be more beautiful and happier than us staid white Anglo types.
Oh yeah and for those immersed in the deep freeze, it is 30 degrees outside.

With no more further drama we arrived in Kathmandu just after lunch.
