Our guide and porter have treated us like royalty. Our guide's name is Lakpa and our porter's name is Bheshraj. They both come from a village near Lukla, on the Everest Base Camp trek. They are both Buddhists. Lakpa and Bheshraj are small in stature but have big hearts.
We came lugging two small packs and one big pack which the porter carries with little effort. He arrived with the clothes on his back and a daypack which I suspect carries very little. They live a very hard life by our standards, but seem to laugh a lot and enjoy life.
It is the slow season in Nepal and they seem quite pleased to be employed, guiding two old codgers up the mountain trails.
